Our letter to potential members

Past, Present, and Future CBC Race Team Members:

As part of our yearly renewal process, we thought there should be a letter to allow us to reintroduce the Race Team as well as thank our member base. As this is written, we have several new items, from our web site redevelopment to become a better source of news regarding the team and club, to making sure we have up-to-date information on all our members, to new opportunities to reward our members who take action within the team. For the most part, 2005-2007 have been rebuilding years within the Race Team, and 2008 finally looks like we will be able to become a serious club-based team. We would like to thank each and every member that has helped make this past season one of our most successful in recent memory, and would like to invite everyone to have the chance to make 2008 an even better year.

There are many benefits to riding and working with the CBC Race Team, a few of which are as follows:

• We have a close team of friendly cyclists to race and ride with
• Members receive a free (very visible) jersey with paid dues.
  • Columbia Bike Club dues are also paid ($20 value!) with membership.
• Reimbursement consisting of several races over as many disciplines - gas money will be paid for.
• Races run locally (no extra travel costs!)
• Email list for ride planning and information.
• Exclusive benefits to members available from sponsors.
  

We have meetings every month, on the third Monday, at 7:30PM in the back room in Shakespeares’ Downtown location. From Froze Toes to the Apple Cup, clothing to reimbursement, we always have topics to discuss and I would encourage everyone that is able to show up and take a part in the decision making process. As a team, we can keep Columbia as one of the best teams in the region for racing and development. In 2007 alone, we acquired several state champion jerseys in road-based disciplines, and 2 overall series champions in the Midwest Fat Tire series, as well as a large number of race wins and high placements in the dozens of races we have had members participate in. Given our track record, 2008 looks like another banner year for the CBC Race Team, and we encourage everyone to take part!
